This unit has a unique design, taking cues from mid-century modern, minimalist and Japanese design languages. Careful proportioning and consistent design language can be seen on every part of the furniture. The unit consists of three main parts: legs, cabinet and the top piece. The division is emphasized by rhythmic gaps, giving the pieces a floating characteristic.
Made with locally sourced materials from Ontario-based lumber mills. A hand-cut maple face-frame construction is fastened onto a birch plywood cabinet, ensuring rigidity while keeping the overall aesthetics pleasing to the eye. The supporting structure is made from cherry wood, complimenting the middle amplifier plate on the cabinet, whilst using inset support pieces to maintain the floating look.
Behind the black fabric, two 6-1/2" Mid-woofers and two 1" tweeters are placed in a stereo array to give a well-balanced sound stage. The overall characteristic of the acoustics is kept as flat as possible, leaving plenty of room to adjust the bass and treble according to the user's needs, thanks to the 120W Bluetooth AptX amplifier. There are also two 3.5mm (1/8") AUX jacks -one at the front, one hidden in the grill at the back- to allow for versatility. There is also a 1/4" headphone jack at the front for those quiet listening sessions.
The top piece is the most striking part, a simple plank of spalted maple with all its natural glory, the mineral deposits and colour variations are by themselves a conversation piece.
The unit can be used as TV speakers, with record players, or as a stereo set for the music room, as well as a versatile Bluetooth speaker system.
