Hello, I'm James Doty.

Since founding Doty Design Studio in 2010 as an architecture student, I have adopted a hands-on approach to design.

Over the past decade, I have dedicated myself to designing and building custom homes, interiors, furniture, and household items, working as a full-time architectural designer and builder. My extensive experience also encompasses construction management. I have managed numerous construction projects, leading teams and overseeing their planning, execution, and successful completion. My deep understanding of the construction process and ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders have enhanced my capabilities as both a designer and a builder.

Additionally, I create unique, high-quality products for the home, focusing on sustainability. I strive to use local materials and consider the environmental impact of my designs.

As a designer, I am profoundly influenced by the rich history and diverse community that shape my practice. I respectfully acknowledge that my design activities take place on indigenous land, enriched by its deep history and the diverse cultures that have stewarded it through time.
